WEEKEND WARRIOR FISHING REPORT:

- Water Temperature: 50-54 degrees Fahrenheit
- Water Clarity: semi-stained to clear
- Challenging weather conditions with wind and recent cold front followed by heavy rain this past week made for tough fishing but big bites.
- Expect stained water and potential fluctuations in water levels due to increased run-off
Recommendations:
1. **Chatterbait**: Adjust colors based on water clarity. Darker water calls for darker baits like black and blue chatterbaits. This versatile bait can work well in various conditions and can help cover a lot of water efficiently.
2. **Traps (lipless crankbaits)**: Opt for red, brown, or shad colored traps. Lipless crankbaits can be effective in attracting active fish, especially in stained water. Varying retrieves can help trigger strikes from different fish behaviors.
3. **Flat-sided crankbait**: In dirty water, consider using a flat-sided crankbait in red color.

Above were my top three baits in no order as not one bait excelled over the other this week.

Additional Tips:
- Stay mobile and cover water efficiently as the fish are likely on the move. Target areas with green and healthy vegetation for potential fish activity.
- Experiment with different retrieval speeds and depths to locate actively feeding fish.
- Be prepared for changing conditions throughout the day, adjusting your tactics accordingly.

Weekend Warrior Fishing Report:
Water Temperature: 45-51 degrees Fahrenheit
Clarity: Clear to mild stain

Good morning, weekend warriors! After a long work week filled with daydreams of landing big bass, it's time to dive into the fishing report. This week, Guntersville Lake has been a bit unpredictable, toying with our emotions. Some days, we were able to locate and catch fish consistently at every stop we made, while on other days, it seemed like the fish had disappeared entirely.
One possible explanation for this inconsistency could be the fluctuation in water levels. It appears that on the days when the lake was being lowered, the fishing action slowed down significantly, causing the fish to become less active and more scattered.
Regarding bait selection, we found that the fish were keying in on different baits each day, despite the typical winter patterns. For example, one morning they might respond well to a chatterbait, but the next day, that same bait may not elicit any bites. This suggests that being adaptable and experimenting with different baits each day can be crucial to success.
In terms of location, we focused our efforts on flats with eel grass, starting around the 8-foot edge and gradually moving in to approximately 5 feet. Since reaction bites were still prominent, we used tactics like making contact with the grass, employing a yo-yo retrieve, and stop and go retrives.

Here are the top three baits that proved effective this week:
1. Trap
2. Flat-sided crankbait
3. Arig

If I had to choose only one lure for the month, I would highly recommend the Arig. Its versatility at various depths and its ability to act as an efficient search bait make it an ideal choice for locating and catching fish.
Lastly, keep in mind that the lake will be bustling with activity this weekend due to the BFL event held at Victory Sportsman, specifically at Goose Pond Colony Bait-Tackle-Grill. With the increased boat traffic and angler presence, exercise caution and stay safe out there.

Yesterday dirty water and floating grass made it challenging. Most of the spots I had been catching fish off were not fishable due to all the floating grass. We made some adjustments and ran some new water and were able to put around 15 fish in the boat .

LOWRANCE PRO UPDATE :

Yesterdays trip was one of my HYBIRD TRIPS- electronics lesson including waypoint management, frequency breakdown, keystroke functions, mapping, seasonal patterns, lure presentation, boat positioning and trying to catch a few that we locate.

This was the first time I had seen the new Lowrance Pro running at 1075 Khz sidescan and it marked a clear change in clarity compared to the older units. However, I believe that Lowrance still lacks in providing customers with more options to fine-tune the sidescan functionality. Nevertheless, if you are considering switching to units with improved sidescan clarity, the down image was undoubtedly the most impressive, offering a vivid and sharp image.

I personally still think Humminbird had the best sidescan image but kudos to Lowrance for a major improvement.
